Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Chipmnk (“the app”), made by Yuken Studios (“we”, “us”), handles your information. The short version: your data stays on your device. Chipmnk does not require an account, and we do not collect, store, or sell your personal data.

Data stored on your device

Everything you add to Chipmnk — your pantry items, expiration dates, recipes, shopping lists, photos, and preferences — is stored locally on your device. This data is never uploaded to our servers, and we have no access to it. Deleting the app deletes this data.

Voice, camera, and AI features

Some features send content off your device for processing, only when you actively use them:

• Voice input: when you use the microphone to add items or talk to Chippy, your audio is transmitted to our AI service provider to be transcribed and understood.
• Camera and receipt scanning: when you photograph groceries or a receipt, the image is transmitted to our AI service provider to identify the items in it.
• Recipe and assistant features: the relevant ingredient names from your pantry may be included in these requests so results match what you have.

This content is used only to generate the response you asked for. We do not store it, we do not link it to your identity, and requests are not used to build a profile of you. Processing is performed by our infrastructure and AI providers (Cloudflare and OpenAI) under their respective data-processing terms, and content is retained by them only transiently as needed to provide the service.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment information. Apple's handling of your purchase data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

What we don't do

• No account creation or sign-in required.
• No collection of your name, email, contacts, or location.
• No third-party advertising or ad tracking.
• No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties.

Children's privacy

Chipmnk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we add features that change how data is handled (for example, optional cloud sync or household sharing), we will update this policy before those features launch and note the new effective date above.
